Religious radicals like Servet, Emerson & Dietrich used to walk the Unitarian world. Now we UU congregations have become the very box we used to be outside of. The UUA is the corporate McDonalds, the UUMA is the Teamsters, and we eat & drive in their box as they say we do. Most of us anyway. Still, there are edges in UUism that the UUA does not yet control, where congregations & laity can still grow, in the alternative UU universe. A talk about these edges, practicing some free thinking.

tom likes talking about the differences between UU & UUA-isms. He has an MA in Religious Studies from a public land-grant university, and an MDiv from the private UUA-affiliate Starr King School for Religious Leadership in Berkeley. He founded & edited critical mass: a journal of religious frontiers in Unitarian Universalism back in Berkeley 1986-88, and organized the first public student protest against the UUA Ministerial Fellowship Committee’s control of the UU ministry in 1987.

btw, remember that sunday 5 november is Daylight Savings morning – time to Fall Back. so take that extra hour of sleep & put it to good use!
