Unitarians Martha and Waitstill Sharp saved many from the Nazis after being called by the Unitarian Service Committee (now UUSC) to interrupt their lives and go to Europe to help get Jews out before they were captured. Martha was the first US woman to be honored by Israel as Righteous Among the Nations. The two of them were only the second and third Americans so honored.

We hope to have a diverse and large number of people attend and discuss these questions:

How are you carrying on the Sharps’ legacy by defying hatred and discrimination today? Islamophobia and the Syrian refugee crisis are modern day parallels to the bigotry the Sharps fought against.

What can we ALL do to defy hatred, bigotry and fear of Muslims and refugees through interfaith cooperation?

We hope to see you there!
