Our Religious Education class for 4th-8th graders is exploring social justice issues in our world through a curriculum called Harry and UU. This curriculum uses events and themes from the Harry Potter books and movies as the children learn about and make a difference in social justice issues. The children selected the five social justice issues that they are most passionate about, and you will be hearing more about these throughout the year. Their issues are S.H.A.R.P.

S – Slavery
H – Homelessness
A – Animal Cruelty
R – Racism and Discrimination
P – Pollution

The first challenge they are tackling is Animal Cruelty. As a group, they will gather and make supplies for animals in rescue shelters. Individually, those who are interested will provide care for animals who need love and attention.

Stay tuned for more information if you would like to contribute to their efforts or learn what they accomplish!
