Walking is also a direct form of resistance against fossil fuel infrastructure, which threatens the health of our people and our planet.  –Amelia Diehl

As you know, President Trump has announced that the US is pulling out of the Paris Accord.  Nevertheless, there has been staunch resistance to this announcement among our many mayors, business and industry leaders, indigenous people and youth.  Our country will still be represented at the COP23 meeting in Bonn, Germany Nov. 6-17.  As climate change impacts increase our youth, especially those in more vulnerable countries, will suffer the consequences of climate change if unfettered.  Our UU youth have taken both notice and action.

On October 6, UU Young Adults for Climate Justice member Amelia Diehl began a 300-mile solo walking journey from Paris, France, to Bonn, Germany, where she will be a member of the SustainUS youth delegation for the next UN COP23 climate talks. She will also be participating in a mass civil disobedience to shut down the Rhineland lignite coal open pit mine in Germany as well as a youth summit and Peoples Climate Summit. Hold Amelia in your thoughts and hearts as she makes this journey!
UU Young Adults for Climate Justice members are between the ages of 18 and 35.  They are concerned about climate justice and have connection to the UU faith.  The organization is part of the UU Ministry for Earth.  www.uuyacj.org
